Set to the tune of “O Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean,” which put new words to the tune of “Britannia, the Pride of the Ocean.” Like “My Country ‘Tis of Thee,” “O Columbia” was for some time considered an unofficial anthem of the United States. So why not make a romance anthem out of it?
